Green Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology involves the manipulation of materials at the nanometer scale, which is equal to one billionth of a meter. Green Nanotechnology is the application of green chemistry and green engineering principles in this field.

This area is related to other areas such as Energy, Green Technology, Green Building and Green Chemicals. Concern for the environment and public health in the community, has increased the interest and efforts of researchers to implement safety and health in the research and development of nanotechnology. Green nanotechnology involves two separate but interrelated goals. First, researchers are looking for various methods of producing existing products and processes in a more secure and sustainable manner and to make nanotechnology less toxic throughout its life cycle. Second, researchers are looking at how nanotechnology can be used to minimize environmental pollution and for remidiation purposes.
